I am putting up my Mother in law's MGTC for sale, it is a 1947 SN 5002. I do not have the BMIHT but it looks to have been originally a red car with red interior, but has been painted gold. It is in pieces, not sure why it has been taken apart. I was told the oil pump is in need of replacement. All numbers match, very little rust. It has been in pieces for 50 years. It needs a total restoration. |

MG TA 1937
Red with Black upholstery and chrome grill. Private number plate MG 5631.
First registered 2 September 1937 and restored in the 1990's with only a few hundred miles done since then.
Always kept covered in the garage, and only ever driven in the dry. This car has been lovingly owned and is mechanically sound with a beautiful patina on the body, an immaculate engine bay and clean underneath. Comes complete with full weather gear.
The car has been converted to run a single 12V battery - still on positive earth of course - and has reliable (and non leaking) twin SU electric fuel pumps although the original mechanical controls are still on the dashboard. To keep the engine safe it has an oil filter conversion to use the modern spin on filters although the original has been retained and will be provided. The fuel tank was replaced about 8 years ago. A reconditioned water pump and new master brake cylinder was fitted in 2007
Comes with a luggage rack which, at present, is off the car and also a 2 boxes of spares including valve springs, exhaust manifold, water pump, bearings, filters, brake shoes and gaskets.
Has current MOT and tax and has been known to the T Register for many years.

Supplied new by University Motors, London in 1946 and owned by one professional mechanic for 54 years. This car (located 1.5 hours from Calais) still retains a huge amount of its originality even after an award winning restoration in the late 80s (the car was featured in Richard Aspdens's book; The Classic MG). With matching numbers all the original running gear is still on the car, and she drives beautifully with precise steering, a sweet engine and strong braking. She has period extras of oil temp and water temp gauges, also alloy rocker cover and cam plate. A rear boot rack is also fitted along with sympathetic amber indicators and very descrete high level brake light. There is a significant and important history file for the car going back 60 years which includes many period photographs, an original workshop manual and buff coloured handbook. A lovely unmolested example that retains a wonderful used patina that cannot be replicated and sold with many desireable spare parts. Car is located in northern France, 1.5 hours from Calais. STRICTLY NO canvassers or dealers.

1955 MG TF1500 (rhd) HDA16/8909. In 1963, age 22, I bought this TF in Cheshire. In ‘67, we moved to NY & California & took it with us. In ‘80’s/‘90’s it had full restoration. We gave it to our son, a jaguar mechanic, who loved & maintained it in California. This year, on my 70th birthday, I returned it to Devon, for nostalgia - now sale. MG TA 1938
Complete very original car bought by me in 1973 as part restored car. Original engine with matching numbers. Dismantled again in 1975 for more comprehensive but still unfinished restoration.
New wood frame with alloy panelling by Bevan. Major steel components blasted and stoved or synthetic coated. Most parts rechromed (Murrivan). Instruments overhauled. Good rust free wings, tank and centre laced wheels. Seats retrimmed in vinyl leathercloth. Engine and gearbox untouched. Many new parts inc. wiring loom, halfshafts, springs, pistons, wheel and diff bearings, and also many used spares.
Much of the hard work is done and now requires engine overhaul, reassembly and painting to produce an excellent car. With cash deposits earning little interest now , this could be an ideal project to add value to your cash.

1954 MG TF. Original UK Home Market car, one of the 813 cars produced for the UK market with 1250 engine. With BMI Heritage Trust Certificate and matching original numbers. Red coachwork with dark red leather, black hood and side screens. Black full and half tonneaux. Large history file showing full restoration to the highest standard in 1987, using original not reproduction parts, well documented in Octagon bulletins (original bulletins in history file) Every MOT from 1985 to date. Left the factory with disc wheels but painted wire wheels with Michelin radial tyres now fitted. The car benefits from a 5 speed (hi-gear) conversion, (all original parts including gearbox available). Thermostatically controlled electric fan. Modern spin-on oil filter adapter. Stainless steel luggage rack. Bell stainless steel exhaust (fabulous sound). Correct period style rubber battery recently fitted. Needless to say it drives as well as it looks. The car has an agreed valuation of £20,000 with Peter Best Insurance. Although in the light of current rapidly rising values for these cars, a revised higher figure may well be appropriate. Many photographs available by e-mail Reluctant sale due to owner moving abroad.
