T Register MG Car Club
T Racing

So... you are interested in racing a T Type MG?

Please make contact with the T Register; we can help... Here are a few of the steps necessary, and these brief notes can be expanded upon with just a phone call or email.

  • Finding a car... many of ours are professionally prepared. Occasionally you might find one on the market, but unlikely.
  • Have you raced before? If not, then a day with instruction is now compulsory. Not too costly, and skills are acquired thick and fast.
  • Insurance, licence, clothing such as fireproofing, headgear etc; we can advise on all of this if you need us to. Plenty of kit is compulsory these days.
  • Programme for next season is available in the next section; there is always plenty of opportunity to race your T Type.
  • The MGCC website also lists all club results plus links for other series/races, so you can see our level of activity.
  • The most helpful thing is for you to let us know of your interest: we hope we have all the answers through decades of experience!

We are friendly and welcoming; don't hesitate to make contact and, we hope, join us.

The Competitions Secretary's contact details can be found on the Commitee page.

    T RACING ROUND-UP 2007

The 2007 year began with another splendid weekend Arrow Mill. Many thanks to Jonathan Harmer for once again organising this event. There was a superb dinner, during which awards were made for the 2006 season. and the Hanks Trophy (voted for by all drivers present) went to John Bussey.

The races which were agreed for our 2007 T register racing programme, following discussion at the annual dinner held in February, were as follows (including reports). These appear in reverse order!

    04 August 2007
    BENTLEY DRIVERS' CLUB AT SILVERSTONE

A day of excellent racing but with considerable drama. The T types raced with ACs and Morgans, coming out very well against both. Dave Clewley was well out ahead of the T Types and came first among us with the Sprintex TB, and John Bussey came ahead of Nick Ashman in 2nd and 3rd places. Dave Bishop (with car repaired after MGCC Silverstone accident last month) also had a good finish.

Andrew Cox spun at Woodcote with leaking coolant and a lot of steam; Richard Green lost his steering and went straight on at a hairpin; Charles Harmer broke his gearbox after several excellent laps.

However, more dramatically, Chris Owen crashed his beautiful gold and blue TA near the start of the pits straight after a superb dice for most of the race with Nick Ashman. Good luck to Chris in getting his car repaired - this was the most serious accident I have seen in recent years, but he climbed out relatively unscathed and is determined to be out again for 2008.

We hope to see all these cars back with us in early 2008.

    31 March 2007
    SILVERSTONE: PETER BEST INSURANCE CHALLENGE

Three T types were out for this early season meeting. In the first race, John Bussey and Tim Patchett finished just over a second apart and a little ahead of David Bishop. In the second race, John did not get off, but Tim and Dave had a good battle before Dave had problems later on leaving Tim as the only T Type to finish this one.
