| MG CAR CLUB COUNCIL MEETING ON 5TH APRIL |
07 April 2008 |
|
|
‘T’ Register representatives attended an MG Car Club Council meeting on Saturday 5th April. Your reps were John James, Council Voting Member, and Bill Silcock, supporting member.
The meeting was a good natured affair and the author was pleased to note that the unpleasantness, which has characterised some of the gatherings in the past, is no longer apparent.
A subscription increase of £2 per annum, which takes effect from May renewals was agreed and your representatives were satisfied that this was necessary.
Agreement was also given to build an extension to the rear of Kimber House, at a cost not exceeding £100,000. The extension will provide a good sized meeting room and will facilitate a total revamp of Kimber House, providing much needed improved working conditions for the staff on the first floor and a shop and member facilities (including research facilities) on the ground floor.

Register members will be saddened to learn that Rod died early this morning, following a long and courageous fight against cancer. Rod was a friend of long standing to many of us, and a past member of the Register Committee who served as TD/TF Registrar for 10 years. We will print an obituary in the next issue of TTT.

| NEW SITE TO HELP EBAY PUNTERS |
28 January 2008 |
|
|
eBay punters will find this new website very useful. The site developer, Steve, stonerose953@yahoo.com introduces it as follows:
"I've noticed some people over the last few months say that they find it hard to browse eBay for all things MG amongst the Mini Guns and Milli Grams of prescription drugs and the like! So I've been quietly working away at a site which might help those new to eBay find things more easily.
I've developed a site that gives you an immediate overview of a great deal of the MG auctions on eBay, divided up into categories (categories for general MG paraphernalia such as MG Adverts & Prints, Badges, Tools etc and categories for each of the specific MG models). It gives you the title, picture and price of the auctions of interest in that category. You can then click through to the item to visit it on eBay itself. The items are updated in real time, but the total numbers for the items in each category are only updated once a day (at 0700 GMT) and are only approximate figures.
Better still, you can switch between eBay USA, eBay Canada, eBay Australia and eBay UK just by clicking on the relevant country's flag - so you can any T-Types for sale on each of these sites in just a few clicks. I hope to extend it to other non-English eBay sites if the site is well received.
Have a look and let me know what you think! I've called it MG Auction Watch and the address is http://www.mgauctionwatch.com
Hope you find it useful!" cheers, Steve MG Auction Watch

| WARNING: SPARES SCAM |
18 January 2008 |
|
|
Two members who were advertising for “Spares Wanted” have been emailed by a lady called Maria who claims to be breaking a TC, and on another occasion to have TF spares available. She is very anxious to have the home address of the advertiser in order to “calculate shipping costs” (This will probably be followed by an attempt to get bank account details…… ?) This is a scam. One email is accompanied by photos of an immaculate TC, which is claimed to be in Madrid and being broken for spares. From evidence in the photos the car is probably in the USA. The clincher was that when asked how much she would sell the whole car for, the answer was 1200 Euros.

| REGISTER STAND AT STONEEIGH FOR MG SPARES DAY |
01 January 2008 |
|
|
Happy New Year to all.
We are going to have a Register Stand at the MG Spares Day at Stoneleigh on 24th February. This will be situated in Hall No. 1 opposite Barry Walker’s Stand. Members will have an opportunity to sell any spares they might have through the stand. All we ask is that the spares are presented in clean condition, suitably labelled and priced and accompanied by a typed list of items and their respective prices. As we will not be in a position to haggle, members will need to leave a mobile number on which they can be contacted by prospective vendors. We need help to man the stand. If you can assist, please get in touch with me jj(at)octagon.fsbusiness.co.uk
